If Carling is your second residence, you can still vote here: Yes

This question has been raised by people whose Carling residence is not their primary residence.

We are used to the provincial and federal elections where every citizen has one vote, no matter how many properties they own. Municipal elections are different.

If you live somewhere else but you own or rent a property here, you can vote here. You are a “non-resident” elector (over 18, and a Canadian citizen).

If your spouse owns or rents a property here, you can vote here, even if you are not on the title to your property or the lease. You are “the spouse of a non-resident elector”.

Are You on the Municipal Voter's List for 2026?

Even if you have voted before, you might not be on the list.

We know entire roads and many island addresses that are not on the draft list.             Recent legislative changes mean that Elections Ontario is now responsible for compiling the voters’ list across Ontario. This responsibility was previously held by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). This change is province-wide and has nothing to do with the Township.              While this shift was intended to improve consistency, we are aware that many addresses have been left off the new draft list. We strongly encourage electors to confirm or add their information by July 31, 2026, for all properties you might own. You can register or verify your information online or by telephone. Note: You will have to share a copy of your driver's license.    Online: https://www.registertovoteon.ca/

Phone: 1-866-242-3025     Or at the Township office in late September.

My point is this: if you own property, whether you live here full-time or only part of the year, you’re paying for services in Carling Township. Make sure you learn the issues and get the best possible people working for you on council.
